Do Images Change the World - Or Do They Change Us?

Imagine a photographic assignment to show hard and soft texture, or life and death, or metaphor, or?

This image works powerfully for me because it is both artistically enticing and loaded with powerful information.

I wonder how much seeing images like this as a boy in the 1960s formed my pacifist outlook.

Introduction: Photojournalism, What it is and Why its History is Important.

Ms. White photographed the first cover of Life Magazine.  This image relates to the history of photojournalism, but is the image itself a photojournalistic image?  I believe not, as it is clearly posed and, as the caption indicates, a self-portrait.  Photojournalists photographs verbs.

I am studying the history of photojournalism because:  I love images.  I love history.  I want to know more about the brave women and men who risk their lives to show us what is happening around the world.
