Introduction: Photojournalism, What it is and Why its History is Important.

Photograph of Margaret Bourke-White
by Margaret Bourke-White, Life Magazine, 1943
Ms. White photographed the first cover of Life Magazine.  This image relates to the history of photojournalism, but is the image itself a photojournalistic image?  I believe not, as it is clearly posed and, as the caption indicates, a self-portrait.  Photojournalists photographs verbs.

I am studying the history of photojournalism because:  I love images.  I love history.  I want to know more about the brave women and men who risk their lives to show us what is happening around the world.
